The Youth Employment Training Foundation (YEMPF) is committed to promoting gender equality and
creating an inclusive environment where all individuals, regardless of gender, can thrive and achieve
their full potential. This policy outlines our commitment to eliminating gender-based discrimination and

fostering equality within our organization and its programs.

Objectives
❖ Ensure equal opportunities for all genders in recruitment, promotion, training, and professional
development.
❖ Create a work environment that respects and values gender diversity.
❖ Promote gender equality in all programs and activities.
❖ Address and prevent gender-based harassment and discrimination.

Scope
This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, partners, and participants involved in YEMPF’s programs and
activities.

Policy Statement
YEMPF is dedicated to:
❖ Promoting equal treatment and opportunities for all genders.
❖ Eliminating gender-based discrimination and bias.
❖ Ensuring that all staff and volunteers are aware of their responsibilities in promoting gender
equality.

Principles
Equality and Non-Discrimination: All individuals, regardless of gender, have the right to be treated
equally and without discrimination.

Inclusivity: YEMPF is committed to fostering an inclusive environment that values and respects gender
diversity.
Accountability: All members of YEMPF are accountable for upholding gender equality principles.
Recruitment and Selection
YEMPF will:
❖ Use gender-neutral language in job advertisements and descriptions.
❖ Ensure diverse representation on recruitment panels.
❖ Provide equal opportunities for all genders during the recruitment process.
❖ Monitor and address gender imbalances in the workforce.

Training and Development
YEMPF will:
❖ Provide training on gender equality and unconscious bias to all staff and volunteers.
❖ Ensure equal access to professional development opportunities for all genders.
❖ Promote mentorship and support networks for underrepresented genders.

Work Environment
YEMPF is committed to:
❖ Creating a work culture that supports work-life balance for all genders.
❖ Implementing flexible working arrangements where possible.
❖ Providing facilities and support for employees with caregiving responsibilities.

Gender-Based Harassment and Discrimination
YEMPF will not tolerate any form of gender-based harassment or discrimination. This includes:
Harassment: Unwanted behavior related to an individual’s gender that violates their dignity or creates an
intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or offensive environment.
Discrimination: Unfair treatment based on gender, including decisions related to recruitment, promotion,
training, and employment conditions

Reporting and Resolution
YEMPF has a clear process for reporting and addressing gender-based harassment and discrimination:
Report: Employees and volunteers are encouraged to report any incidents of gender-based harassment
or discrimination to their supervisor or the designated Gender Equality Officer (GEO).
Investigate: The GEO will investigate the complaint promptly, fairly, and confidentially.
Resolve: Appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation. This may include
disciplinary action against perpetrators and support for victims.

Designated Gender Equality Officer (GEO)
YEMPF has appointed Elena Kyprianou as a GEO. The GEO is responsible for:
❖ Receiving and responding to complaints of gender-based harassment and discrimination.
❖ Providing guidance and support to staff and volunteers on gender equality issues.
❖ Ensuring compliance with YEMPF’s gender equality policies.
❖ Promoting gender equality initiatives within the
organization.
Monitoring and Evaluation
YEMPF will:
❖ Regularly review and monitor gender equality practices and policies.
❖ Collect and analyze data on gender representation and pay equity.

❖ Conduct surveys and gather feedback from staff and volunteers on gender equality issues.
❖ Report findings and progress to the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities
Board of Directors:
❖ Approve and oversee the implementation of the Gender Equality Policy.
❖ Ensure adequate resources are allocated for gender equality initiatives.
Executive Director:
❖ Ensure the policy is implemented and adhered to across the organization.
❖ Support the GEO in their role.
Staff and Volunteers:
❖ Comply with the Gender Equality Policy.
❖ Participate in training and awareness programs.
❖ Report any concerns related to gender equality.

This Gender Equality Policy is effective as of 12.2.2021 and will be reviewed annually or as needed to
